Treatment Modalities

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy

RO-DBT is an evidence based therapy developed by Thomas Lynch, PhD. This modality is effective in the treatment of emotional overcontrol. I completed intensive training in Radically Open DBT in 2018. I am supervised by Dr. Angela Klein, who is the only other intensively trained RO-DBT Therapist in San Diego, California. We provide RO-DBT services at Centered Ground in Carlsbad, California including a weekly RO-DBT skills class.

Standard Dialectical Behavior Therapy

I incorporate components of DBT into my practice. DBT is a cognitive behavioral therapy based on mindfulness. It was developed by Marsha Linehan. This skills based approach is an evidence based modality and is effective in the treatment of emotional dysregulation.  DBT by definition includes the skills training class. This class is also offered at Centered Ground in Carlsbad, California. I also provide daily DBT coaching via text/phone call.

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy developed by Francine Shapiro which uses eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to purportedly assist clients in processing distressing memories and beliefs. It is commonly used for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).The theory behind the treatment assumes that when a traumatic or distressing experience occurs, it may overwhelm normal coping mechanisms, with the memory and associated stimuli being inadequately processed and stored in an isolated memory network.
